Alistair Fernie
Biography
Alistair Fernie is Director for International Finance at the Department for International Development (DFID).
He covers DFID’s work on economic development, multilateral effectiveness and particularly International Finance Institutions.
Prior to this role, he was briefly head of DFID’s Private Sector Department, and spent four and half years in Nairobi as Head of DFID’s Kenya programme.
Alistair joined DFID in 1997 from Médecins Sans Frontières, with whom he worked in Liberia, Georgia and Rwanda. He has also worked for Amnesty International.
Alistair has a first class honours degree in politics, philosophy and economics from Balliol College, University of Oxford.
