Alyson Armett

Biography

Alyson has brought more than 20 years’ experience of working in both public and private sectors, managing high risk, complex programmes in highly regulated environments.

She is a physicist and chartered electrical engineer, and prior to joining the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) in 2005, worked in the steel and rail sectors in operational, engineering, technical consultancy and business management roles.

Alyson was the NDA’s head of programme for Sellafield Ltd and was responsible for the oversight of all major programmes at the Sellafield site.

She joined Sellafield Ltd in 2016, where she has held positions as; head of the enterprise portfolio office, head of strategy and planning, interim enterprise director and most recently head of retrievals value stream.

She was previously a non-executive director for Direct Rail Services, a member of the Nuclear Innovation and Research Advisory Board (NIRAB), and a member of the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership Board.

Alyson currently represents Sellafield Ltd on the Civil Nuclear Policy Authority Board (CNPA).

Alyson became strategy and business planning director at Sellafield Ltd in January 2025.

Strategy and Business Planning Director

As the Strategy and Business Planning Director for Sellafield Ltd, Alyson is responsible for leading and developing Sellafield’s future strategic direction and associated plans to deliver Sellafield Ltd’s mission in line with government policy and Nuclear Decommissioning Authority Strategy.
