Andrew Bizley MBE
Biography
Andrew Bizley is His Majesty’s Consul General in Erbil, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Before arriving in Erbil, Andrew was Deputy Head of His Majesty’s Government’s Iran Unit (2022 to 2024). He has previously been posted to Iraq as First Secretary Political-Military, and then Acting Political Counsellor, in Baghdad (2019 to 2021). In London, Andrew was a senior lawyer covering Europe and Human Rights from 2015 when he joined FCDO. Prior to this, Andrew held various roles covering a range of energy and climate issues in the Department of Energy and Climate Change, from 2008.

The Consul General represents the UK government and is typically responsible for consular, visa and trade activities in their city or region.
