Andrew Dalgleish LLB

Biography

Andrew Dalgleish took up the position of Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Paris in January 2024. Prior to that, he was High Commissioner in the British High Commission in Pakistan in July 2022. He spent a year in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in London working on Gibraltar’s relationship with the European Union.

From 2016 to 2021 he served as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Croatia. Before that, he was the Deputy Head of Mission in Seoul, South Korea. Mr Dalgleish is married with two children.

Deputy Head of Mission, France

The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
