The Rt Hon Andrew Robathan
Biography
Andrew Robathan was appointed Minister of State for Northern Ireland in October 2013. He was elected Conservative MP for South Leicestershire in 1992.
Education
Andrew was educated at Merchant Taylors’ School in Northwood and studied modern history at Oriel College, Oxford. He later attended the Army Staff College in Camberley.
Political career
Andrew was previously Minister of State for the Armed Forces. He has also held the post of Minister for Defence Personnel, Welfare and Veterans.
Career outside politics
Andrew served around the world in the Coldstream Guards from 1974 to 1989.
He then volunteered to rejoin the army in 1991 and served as Chief of Staff of the Prisoner of War Guard Force in Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Kuwait.
He later worked for BP from 1991 to 1992.
Personal life
Andrew is married and has 2 children.
