Carmel was appointed the Director of Finance, Operations and Digital in January 2024.
Her previous Civil Service roles include:

Deputy Director, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, September 2020 to December 2023 (including Interim Finance Director, May 2023 to August 2023)

Head of Finance Capability, HM Treasury (HMT) March 2019 to September 2020
Carmel joined the Civil Service in 1986 and has held various senior finance posts in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and The Insolvency Service.
