Chris Stewart
Biography
Chris Stewart is Director of Data and Analysis at Active Travel England. He joined the agency in March 2023.
Chris has worked for the past 15 years in various senior positions in government and the private sector. He is a leading expert on active travel appraisal and evaluation, and has spent the past 5 years developing innovative approaches for walking, wheeling and cycling investment across the UK. Chris has also led on the development of active mode guidance for the Department for Transport.
He is joining from Arup, where he has been leading on digital transformation, integrating and embedding data and digital approaches across the cities, planning and design portfolio.
He is now building Active Travel England’s data and analysis team to give the organisation access to high quality evidence to ensure that investment in active travel is spent effectively.
