Christine McCartney joined Public Health England in October 2012.

Career highlights:

• Senior Advisor on Microbiology Services to Duncan Selbie, CEO Public Health England
• Senior Responsible Officer for the HCAI Data Capture System Project, working alongside colleagues from the Department of Health
• Executive Lead for the HPA Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and Antimicrobial Resistance Programme
• Executive Director for HPA Microbiology Services
• co-author of a textbook “Notes on Medical Microbiology”
