Craig Chalcraft
Biography
Craig started as the Principal Private Secretary at the Office of the Secretary of State for Scotland in July 2021. Craig joined the Office in March 2018 as the Head of the Constitutional Policy team where he advised Ministers on Scottish constitutional matters including on Primary and Secondary legislation that related to Scotland. Prior to this Craig was the Private Secretary to the Advocate General for Scotland where he supported the Advocate General in his various roles, including in their capacity as one of the UK Government’s Law Officers.
Craig joined the civil service in March 2009 and his career has spanned a number of roles in the Ministry of Justice, including in the FOI Clearing House and a secondment to the Cabinet Office as a Bill team member to work on the Justice and Security Act 2012. Craig has a BA in History and a MA in Jewish History and Culture from the University of Southampton.
