Dame Nicola Brewer

Biography

Dame Nicola is British High Commissioner to South Africa from June 2009. She is also accredited to Lesotho and Swaziland. She is a career diplomat who has held senior public sector appointments both inside and outside the Diplomatic Service.

Dame Nicola has a BA in English (1980), a PhD in Linguistics (1988) and an honorary Law degree (2009) from the University of Leeds. She was awarded the CMG in 2002. She has been a Trustee of the Pilgrim Trust since July 2008; became a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute in 2009; and is a member of the Judicial Diversity Panel, chaired by Baroness Julia Neuberger, established by the Lord Chancellor in May 2009. She is married with two children.
