Esmond Lindop
Biography
After graduating from Sussex University in 1972, Esmond joined the Department of Employment where he worked on industrial relations issues and incomes policy. He moved on to research at Industrial Relations Services, covering a broad range of employee relations issues and, heading up on pay and reward. In the mid 1980s he joined the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) managing a team responsible for policy, lobbying, research and member services relating to pay, pensions and labour market issues.
In late 1989 Esmond joined Incomes Data Services (IDS), the independent information and research organisation on employment matters, becoming Managing Director.
He left in 2005, following the acquisition of IDS by Thomson Reuters, to build up a portfolio of consultancy, research and lecturing work. He has carried out work for organisations ranging from the Universities and Colleges Employers Association and the CBI to consultancy firm Mercer and the Office of the Rail Regulator. He was a member of the School Teachers’ Review Body from 2007 to 2012.
