Evelyn Ashton-Griffiths
Biography
Evelyn Ashton-Griffiths took up the position of Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Agencies in Rome in February 2024.
Most recently, Evelyn was Deputy Political Counsellor at the British High Commission in New Delhi and she led the UK’s global and multilateral cooperation with India. She also worked temporarily in the British High Commission in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Previously, Evelyn was Private Secretary to Secretaries of State for International Development where she worked on ministerial priorities with a focus on the Middle East and Indo-Pacific, and on humanitarian, conflict, migration, and global health. Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, Evelyn worked on equitable access to vaccines as Deputy Head of Department.
Evelyn started her career at the Department for International Development (DFID) and has expertise on development diplomacy. Evelyn previously worked at the British Embassy Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – leading UK engagement on humanitarian, development and economic issues in Yemen.
