Gill Lever OBE
Biography
Gill is an experienced career diplomat. She has worked in a diverse range of roles in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, now Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, in London. These include Head of Overseas Health and Welfare, Deputy Head of South East Asia Department. Human Resources Business Partner for Europe, Africa and Asia and on the Africa Peacekeeping policy desk in the UN Department.
Overseas she has served in Romania, India and Japan. Her last role prior to coming to Nigeria was Deputy Head of Mission, Juba, South Sudan. Gill has also worked in the voluntary sector, establishing child drowning prevention programmes and raising funds for women’s and children’s projects in Vietnam.
Gill was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by HM Queen Elizabeth II in 2021 for services to Health and Welfare and British Nationals while working on front line Covid-19 pandemic response.
