Gillian Hillier
Biography
Gillian Hillier was appointed as Chief Executive of the Standards and Testing Agency in August 2021.
Her previous roles include:
- Director of Careers and Further Education, Department for Education
- Deputy Director, School Improvement, Department for Education
- Deputy Director, Free Schools Capital, Education Funding Agency
CEO and Accounting Officer, STA
The Chief Executive is responsible for overseeing the work of the agency and is accountable to the Secretary of State for Education.
The Chief Executive signs off the content of the national curriculum tests and the setting and maintenance of standards, acting independently of the Department for Education and ministers, to ensure confidence in the validity of test outcomes.
As accounting officer, the Chief Executive is also responsible for assuring how the agency uses its resources including its delegated budget.
