Guy Harrison

Biography
Guy took up his role as His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania on 9 January 2025.
Before arriving in Nouakchott, Guy was temporary Deputy High Commissioner in Yaoundé, prior to that he was Head of Mission in Conakry and spent four years as Economic Counsellor at the British Deputy High Commission Lagos, responsible for promoting government-to-government and business-to-business partnerships between Nigeria and the UK. Previous overseas postings include the Republic of Korea (1987-92, 1998-2002), Vietnam (1993-95), Belgium and Luxembourg (2002-6) and as Deputy of Head of Mission to Nepal (2010-15). Guy has worked on a G7 summit and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), as well as Deputy Head of the FCO’s Global Economy Group and other roles at the FCO.
Guy joined the FCO in 1986. He speaks Korean, French and Dutch.

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
