Hiren Dhimar

Biography

Hiren Dhimar has been the Programme Director for the Shared Rural Network programme since February 2024, and has responsibility for the programme’s overall delivery.

He was previously in BDUK from 2015 to 2020 leading on various commercial matters relating to the Connection Voucher Scheme, Superfast Broadband Programme, exploring the use of railway infrastructure to improve digital connectivity, and expanding BDUK’s overall commercial capacity and capability.

Between 2021 and 2024, Hiren was the Programme Director for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games where he oversaw the preparation of venues, security and transport matters, the commercial programme and the overall management of the delivery programme. As part of this role, he also represented government on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham 2022 Organising Committee.

Prior to his time in government, Hiren worked in the private sector in various delivery roles including overseeing supply chain implementations of large prime contracts for government such as the Work Programme with the Department for Work and Pensions, and the National Citizen Service with the Cabinet Office.

Shared Rural Network Programme Director

The Programme Director for the Shared Rural Network is responsible for the delivery of the SRN programme that will see public and private investment in a network of new and existing phone masts to level up connectivity across the UK.
