James Goldman

Biography

James Goldman is the Deputy High Commissioner and Development Director at the British High Commission, Dhaka.

Before taking up his current role, he was His Majesty’s Consul General in Erbil, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Between 2022 and 2023 he was Chargé d’Affaires a.i. at the British Embassy Muscat, having been the Deputy Head of Mission in Muscat since 2019.

James has been working in development and foreign policy roles since 2015. These included Deputy Head of the Department which managed the UK’s £1 billion+ global Conflict, Stability and Security Fund which focused on programmes to tackle conflict and instability and promote democracy, good governance, and prosperity.

Prior to 2015 he worked on a range of security and defence issues including: Counter Terrorism in South Asia and Africa, tackling piracy off the Horn of Africa and preventing the proliferation of Chemical, Biological, Radioactive and Nuclear weapons.

James has a Master’s from the London School of Economics and Political Science in Conflict Studies.
