Jane Ryder
Biography
Jane originally qualified as a solicitor in England and in Scotland and was a partner in Boyd Jameson WS, specialist maritime solicitors, where she developed the firm’s commercial and litigation practice. During that time she was also an elected council member of the Law Society of Scotland, where she was the first Convener of the Environment Law Committee.
She then changed career to become the Director of the Scottish Museums Council, serving also as a non-executive Board member of the UK-wide Council for Museums, Libraries and Archives. From October 2003 to October 2011 she was the first Chief Executive of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) responsible for the development and implementation of a modern regulatory regime for 23,500 charities in Scotland. Since leaving OSCR, her portfolio combines consultancy assignments with non-executive appointments. She is a Public Interest member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, the Chair of Arts and Business Scotland and in April 2012 she was appointed as Deputy Chair of the Seafish Industry Authority, where she chairs the Audit and Risk Committee.
She was awarded the OBE in June 2012 for services to the arts and charity.
Within the Marine Management Organisation she is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.
