Jason Ghaboos

Biography

Jason Ghaboos is the Deputy Director of Employee Experience and People Performance at the Government People Group in the Cabinet Office.

Jason was previously, from January 2016 to June 2020, the Deputy Director leading the UK’s Immigration Sponsorship Regulatory System at the Home Office. He started in the Civil Service as an Administrative Assistant in 2002 and has worked in various roles spanning policy, programme, operational, strategic and HR delivery at every grade up to his current SCS role.  

Jason joined GPG in June 2020 and he is responsible for ensuring the Civil Service takes the best strategic approach to diversity and inclusion and organisational design and development to enable better delivery for UK citizens. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Jason also worked as a Bye fellow at the University of Cambridge specialising in workplace culture. His research supported actions to promote more inclusive working practices in UK organisations. 

Jason was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for public service in 2023. Jason reports to Fiona Ryland, the Government Chief People Officer, and sits on the GPG Executive Committee.

Deputy Director of Employee Experience and People Performance

Working in the Government People Group, the Deputy Director of Civil Service Employee Experience and People Performance is accountable for setting the direction on a range of key people issues through the Civil Service Inclusive Practice and Civil Service Organisational Development Practice. Enhanced employee experience is key to better equip the Civil Service to deliver its priorities and support reform; through increased innovation, creativity, utilisation and productivity driven by improved people performance.
