Jenny Stewart
Biography
Jenny Stewart was appointed Interim Chief Executive of the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) in July 2024.
Prior to this role, Jenny was the Director of Science at APHA, where she led both APHA science research and operations delivery and was senior end user for the Science Capability in Animal Health (SCAH) Programme, which is the multi-billion pound redevelopment programme for science facilities and capability at Weybridge.
Prior to her role as Director of Science at APHA, Jenny was Director of Science at the Home Office, leading research, operational and regulatory teams including as Senior Responsible Owner for the Home Office Biometrics Programme.
Jenny has spent her career split between central government and higher education, in corporate, transformation, operational and science and technology roles.
Interim Chief Executive
The Interim Chief Executive is responsible for the delivery of the agency’s services and is the ‘accounting officer’ for the budget. The Interim Chief Executive is also an executive member of the Animal Health and Welfare Board for England.
