Jill Pullen
Biography
Jill began her teaching career as an infant teacher in 1971. She became a deputy head teacher in 1978. She was appointed to headship of Colegrave school in 1983. The school was at first an infant school then became a primary following the retirement of the junior school head teacher in 1988. The school had a designated unit initially for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and subsequently for pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties. Following difficulties with teacher recruitment in East London, the school became the centre for the East London school-centred initial teacher training (SCITT) and Jill was the Responsible Officer from 2003. During her career Jill sat on a number of national working party and steering groups, for example the New Relationship with Schools (NRwS) Steering Group at the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) (now the Department for Education (DfE)), the Head Teacher Reference Group at the Teacher Development Agency (TDA), and the head teacher primary reference group at the DfES. Jill is the Vice Chair of the Outer North East London (ONEL) NHS (4 Primary Health Care Trusts of Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest). She is Chair of an Interim Executive Board in Newham and is a Schools Adjudicator. She was appointed to the School Teachers’ Review Body in December 2009.
