Jo Moir
Biography
Jo Moir is a British diplomat and development professional with more than 20 years of experience working for the UK Government at home and overseas. Jo is currently Development Director for the British High Commission in Islamabad, where she oversees the UK Government’s development partnership and portfolio of development programmes with Pakistan. Prior to this, Jo was FCDO’s Deputy Director for Human Development during the COVID pandemic, leading a range of global health policies and programmes, including on health systems, nutrition, climate and health and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Earlier in her career, Jo was Acting Head for the UK’s development office in Ethiopia and for FCDO’s Conflict, Humanitarian and Security Department. She has also led the UK’s economic and governance work in Sudan, Libya and Egypt, represented the UK in UN negotiations on peacekeeping and conflict prevention, and helped to set up the UK’s aid scrutiny body, the Independent Commission for Aid Impact. Jo has recently completed an MA in international strategy and security at the UK’s Royal College of Defence Studies and Kings College London.
