John Lakin
Biography
John was appointed as a member of the School Teachers’ Review Body in 2017 and the Audit and Risk Committee of the Education and Skills Funding Agency in 2018. In 2023 John was made a member of the ESFA Management Board.
His background is in education management and consulting, having previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) LLP for 23 years, where he was the partner responsible for education and children’s services and for public policy, research and economics. Prior to this he was a local authority education officer and an auditor in inner London for eight years.
Since leaving PwC in 2011, John has pursued a portfolio of non-executive positions and independent consulting. He was Chair of the Performance Committee and Vice Chair of the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee at the Children and Family Court Advisory Support Service from 2012 to 2018, and is also a trustee of a local charity focused on addressing educational disadvantage in Bath and North East Somerset.
