Dr John Scadding

Biography

John Scadding, OBE, MD FRCP, is Honorary Consultant Neurologist Emeritus to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, and was formerly also neurologist to Whittington Hospital, honorary consultant civilian adviser in neurology to the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force, and honorary consultant neurologist to Saint Luke’s Hospital for the Clergy and the Royal Society of Musicians.

He was Clinical Sub-Dean at the Institute of Neurology and Academic Dean of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) and contributed to updating and developing the MRCP(UK) examination and the Specialty Certificate Examinations of the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians.

He was Medical Director of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and Chairman of its Medical Committee, and subsequently Deputy Medical Director of the UCLH NHS Trust. He was a trustee and Vice President of the RSM, and Chairman of its publishing company, RSM Press Ltd.

He was Vice Chairman of the MoD Research Ethics Committee (MODREC) and a member of several MoD review groups, including Non-Freezing Cold Injury. He was Chairman of the Neuro-disability Research Trust and a trustee of the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability in Putney. He was a co-founder of the James Lind Alliance, and Chairman of the Research Committee of The Cure Parkinson’s Trust.

He was a founder member of IMEG in 2011 and was appointed its Chairman in 2019.
