Juliette John
Biography
Juliette John was appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republics of Senegal and Guinea-Bissau in April 2022. Prior to this appointment she was the Development Director at the British Embassy in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Since joining the UK civil service in 2000, she has served in a wide range of roles. Juliette was the Head of UK’s Joint Sahel Department from 2018 to 2019, Head of the Department for International Development’s (DFID) Africa Regional Department from 2017 to 2018 and Head of DFID’s Yemen Office from 2014 to 2017.
She also served in New Delhi and as Private Secretary to the DFID Secretary of State and, separately, as Principal Private Secretary to the DFID Permanent Secretary.
Juliette holds a Master in Public Policy from Princeton University and an MA in International Relations from the University of St Andrews. She speaks fluent French.
