Divisional Director of Patents Julyan Elbro

Biography

ulyan joined the IPO in 1998 as a Patent Examiner.

He moved to dealing with IP policy issues in 2000, covering a range of portfolios including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and the World Trade Organisation TRIPs Agreement. He became Deputy Director of the policy directorate in 2003.

Julyan returned to the operations side in 2006 as head of the group dealing with computing inventions, and was promoted to Divisional Director in charge of examining and enforcement in 2009.

In 2010/11 Julyan was seconded to work on the Hargreaves Review of Intellectual Property as Head of Policy Development. He previously acted as Director of Patents in 2012/13.
