Justin Kingsford

Biography

Justin studied History and Politics at Leicester University prior to joining the Army.  He commissioned into The King’s Royal Hussars in 1996, commanding at all levels within the Regiment, deploying on operations to Bosnia, Macedonia, Kosovo, and Northern Ireland (twice).  He has also spent two Tours in American Headquarters on operations in Afghanistan in 2012 and Qatar in 2015.  In staff appointments he has worked in the Capability & Acquisition fields and in the Army Personnel Centre, gaining an MA in Defence Technology. He has more recently spent five years as the Programme Director for two Government Major Project Portfolio (GMPP) programmes. Since March 2021 he has been the Army Customer Support Team lead in the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).

As a Deputy Head of Profession for Project Delivery within MOD and a Gateway Reviewer he has conducted several Gateway Reviews. He has also developed an adaptation of the military planning process to suit project initiation and change in flight for complex transformation programmes.

  • the day-to-day running of the UK’s fusion research activities
  • the operation of the Joint European Torus (JET)
  • Head of Operations and Facilities Division
