Karen Sanders
Biography
Karen Sanders joined the Civil Nuclear Constabulary in January 2024 as the Interim Director of People.
Karen has over 30 years’ experience as an executive level human resources professional and workforce specialist. Karen has worked extensively in the wider public sector having significant experience in the learning and skills and social care sectors and most recently with central government.
A recognised workforce specialist, Karen has led national pay negotiations for the FE sector and provided advice and strategies to government.
Karen has led her organisations through Investors in People, Investor in Diversity accreditations and achieved a 2* status for outstanding workplace engagement in the Best Companies – Best Places to Work list.
Karen is a regular contributor to professional publications on employee engagement, culture and HR practice and is frequently invited to speak at conferences and events on HR and workforce related topics.
Karen is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, has a BSc(Hons) in Psychology, MSc in Human Resource Management and Organisational Development. Karen has been nominated as HR Director of the year on three occasions and received an ‘Outstanding Contribution’ award from the CIPD in 2022.
Director of People
The Director of People is:
- Responsible for the provision of strategic leadership and direction for all people related matters including Human Resources, Corporate Learning and Development, Organisational Development, and People Change activity
- The lead for the development and implementation of the People Strategy
- To lead the development and implementation of the Health, Safety Occupational Health and Wellbeing activity
- The strategic business partner to the Chief Constable and the Executive Team on people matters
