Liz Peace CBE

Biography

Liz Peace CBE is the independent Chair of Nuclear Waste Services (NWS).

Liz spent her early career in Government in the Ministry of Defence working in a range of roles including nuclear weapon accident planning and the political aspects of land management and planning. She was a key player in the creation of QinetiQ plc in 2001 where for a period she was also the director responsible for health, safety and security.

Liz then moved into the private sector, becoming Chief Executive of the British Property Federation where she played a significant role in the creation of the UK’s Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) structure and made a major contribution to planning reform. She was awarded a CBE in 2008 for services to the property industry.

Liz has a non-executive portfolio career primarily focussed on government and real estate including Howard de Walden Estates, Greencore Homes, AEW UK REIT and the Connected Places Catapult. She has been chair of the Government Property Agency and more recently Greater London Authority’s Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation.

She is chair of the University of Cambridge Property Board and Senior Independent Governor of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. She is also chair of the Churches Conservation Trust and was a founder member and then subsequently chair of Real Estate Balance, a campaigning organisation working to improve diversity and inclusion in the real estate industry.
