Dr Louisa Murdin

Biography

Louisa Murdin FRCP PhD MSc BM BCh is a consultant in Audiovestibular Medicine within the Ear Nose and Throat Service at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, in London.

She is an honorary associate professor at UCL Ear Institute and lectures on postgraduate and undergraduate courses there. She has supervised project work of students from undergraduate level to PhD.

She sees patients with hearing and balance disorders, vertigo and dizziness, with particular special interest in patients with dizziness and headaches. She has been the recipient of research grants from the EU Horizon 2020 programme (the EVOTION project looking at hearing health at the population level) and also has had support from the National Institute for Health Research, including a personal Academic Clinical Fellowship.

She has led the publication of peer reviewed original research and evidence based reviews including for the Cochrane collaboration. She has contributed to numerous textbooks on ENT and Audiovestibular disorders and has been an invited keynote speaker at national and international conferences.

She is the ENT lead for South London for the NIHR Clinical Research Network with a remit to promote collaborative research at local, regional and national levels.

She is currently President of the British Society of Neuro-otology and she also serves on the Education Committee of the Barany Society, the leading international academic science organisation for Neuro-otology and was previously the Chair of the Education Committee of the British Association of Audiovestibular Physicians.
