Maria Bueno
Biography
Maria Bueno is the current Director for Government Relations and Commerce at the British Consulate in Belo Horizonte, appointed in November 2023 by the British Ambassador in Brazil, Stephanie Al-Qaq. With over a decade of experience in international cooperation, Maria has a doctorate in Public Law with an emphasis in International Law from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas (PUCMinas) – where she also acted as professor, responsible for the implementation of a Technological Innovation Centre. Currently, she is also an undergraduate professor at Ibmec BH.
Before joining the British diplomatic mission in Brazil, Maria has had an international experience at Unesco and worked within the state government of Minas Gerais as Head of the National and International Cooperation Office at the State Secretariat for Economic Development.

The Director for Government Relations and Trade is the senior UK official at the Belo Horizonte Consulate, which is a subordinate office to the Embassy in Brazil, located in Brasília.
