Mercy Muroki

Biography

Mercy is a Commissioner for the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities.

Mercy Muroki is a social policy researcher, commentator, and columnist.

She holds a BA(Hons) in Politics from Queen Mary University of London and is in the process of completing her Master’s of Science in Comparative Social Policy at the University of Oxford.

She has been recognised for her achievements in academia, including being the recipient of the Professor Lord Smith of Clifton Prize for her work on government; and winning one of the Political Studies Association’s essay competitions in the parliaments category in 2018.

Muroki currently works as a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Social Justice. Previously, she held a number of research roles within academic and third sector organisations, including the Constitution Unit at University College London. Her work has focused on issues of social mobility and political representation and she has previously published academic research into ethnic and gender representation in local government.

Muroki is also a regular reviewer and commentator on Sky News and writes for the Times RedBox column.
