Nick Heath
Biography
Nick Heath is the Head of the FCDO EU Department. In that role he supports the Foreign Secretary and FCDO Ministers on the UK’s relationship with the EU, including the UK’s foreign and security policy relationship.
Previously Nick was Deputy Director of Europe Strategy and Expertise Department – co-ordinating the bilateral and EU aspects of the government’s European policy. He played a central role in the delivery of the European Political Community Summit at Blenheim Palace in July 2024.
Between 2019 and 2022 Nick was posted to the British Consulate-General in Hong Kong, first as interim Deputy Consul General and then as Director General Trade and Investment. In that role, Nick led the Department for International Trade team in Hong Kong and Macao, supporting the Consul General to drive the commercial and financial relationship between the UK and the 2 Special Administrative Regions.
Between 2015 and 2019, he was Deputy Ambassador at the British Embassy in The Hague. Earlier in his career, Nick worked on a range of issues including EU internal policy and Middle East affairs. He also served as Private Secretary to the Minister for Africa and the UN. Nick joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2005.
