Nick Russell
Biography
Nick Russell was appointed British Consul-General in Dusseldorf in May 2023. His area of responsibility covers North-Rhine Westphalia, Hesse, Rhineland Palatinate and Saarland.
He began his career with the British government in 2009 and has extensive experience in digital policy making and trade.
His first position with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills was followed by an overseas posting as First Secretary, Digital, Telecoms and Intellectual Property at the UK Mission to the European Union in Brussels.
In his most recent post as Deputy Director, Digital Trade Team, at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, he helped deliver the UK-EU Free Trade Agreement, the UK’s global digital trade policy, digitised trading systems and an overseas digital network.
He studied Politics and East European Studies at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, London.
