Nigel Turner OBE
Biography
Nigel Turner was the Human Resources Director of the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust from 1991 to 2008. He was Personnel Director of the Inner London Education Authority until it was abolished in 1990, and before that worked for Ford for 17 years, mainly in industrial relations. In 2008 he was awarded an OBE for services to the NHS and the community in London.
Amongst many other activities around the NHS, he was a member of the Advisory Group on Medical Education, Training and Staffing and the Agenda for Change National Delivery Board. He was employers’ side chair of the NHS Staff Council and its Executive until 2008 and continued to chair its On-call Sub Group until 2011. He chaired the Steering Group for the 2010 review of the NHS Bursary Scheme and, until 2013, the NHS Student Support Advisory Board.
Nigel sits as an Employment Tribunal member in East London and was Vice Chair of Governors of Westminster Kingsway College for ten years until 2013. He is a Trustee of the British Cardiovascular Society, Chair of Redbridge Equalities and Community Council, and a member of the Redbridge Public and Voluntary Services Partnership and the Whipps Cross Hospital Patients’ Panel. He has a degree in economics from Warwick University and is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD.
