Biography
Pat McFadden was appointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster on 5 July 2024. He was elected as the MP for Wolverhampton South East in May 2005.
Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster
The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster administers the estates and rents of the Duchy of Lancaster, and is a member of the Cabinet. After the Prime Minister, they are the most senior minister in the Cabinet Office.
He is responsible for:
- Missions - supporting delivery of Government’s priorities
- Oversight of all Cabinet Office policy
- National security, resilience, and civil contingencies, including:
- COBR
- Resilience policy
- Cyber security
- State threats
- National Security and Investment Act
- Propriety and ethics
- Public appointments
- Major events policy
Minister for Intergovernmental Relations
As Minister for Intergovernmental Relations, the role holder leads coordination with the devolved administrations on the Prime Minister’s behalf, working closely with the Territorial Offices, to make sure that across government work is being done on behalf of the entire United Kingdom: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
