Captain Pat Mowatt
Biography
Currently the Maritime Geospatial Intelligence Liaison Officer for the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence (NCGI), and as Defence Customer Non-Executive Director for UKHO board, Pat is focused on meeting Defence needs for maritime geospatial data.
Pat is a warfare officer and specialist military hydrographic surveyor. His rewarding career in the Royal Navy (RN) spans some thirty years and includes extensive sea experience as well as staff and policy roles. His sea experience has included periods in Antarctica in the Ice Patrol Ship, an exchange appointment with the Royal Australian Navy and military hydrographic and oceanographic data gathering operations in HMS ECHO and ENTERPRISE.
His last sea appointment was in Command of the Ocean Survey Vessel HMS SCOTT, undertaking strategic deep-water data gathering. His staff and policy roles have included instructing Officers in military survey principles and techniques, responsibility for the planning and delivery oversight of future Patrol, Hydrographic and Defence small boat capability at the MoD and Chief of Staff appointments in Navy Command HQ and within the Devonport Flotilla.
The board’s role is to support and constructively challenge the executive committee and to apply scrutiny both in the development of business strategies, cases, plans and targets; and in assessing our success in delivering the approved corporate plan.
