Patrick Lynch

Biography

Patrick Lynch took up his post as UK Ambassador to Madagascar in September 2024.  He is accompanied by his wife, Katy, and their two children.

Patrick has held a number of senior positions in UK government departments in Belfast, London and overseas. Most recently, he served as High Commissioner to the Republic of Seychelles.  Previous postings include Washington D.C, Abu Dhabi and Kabul.

He holds an Undergraduate degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of Aberdeen and a Master’s degree in Comparative Ethnic Conflict from the Queen’s University of Belfast.

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
