Peter Kane
Biography
Peter was appointed as a member of the ESFA Audit and Risk Committee in 2021 and a member of the ESFA Management Board in 2022.
Peter’s career in finance, accountancy and strategic policy making spans a range of public services. He was a senior civil servant in HM Treasury, Cabinet Office, and Home Office. Peter was also the Chief Economic Advisor to the London Borough of Hackney, and the Chamberlain (Chief Financial Officer) of the City of London Corporation.
Peter brings extensive experience of risk, counter-fraud, leading internal audit teams, and working productively with external auditors. In addition to working with ESFA, Peter is also a non-executive director and Chair of Audit for two London NHS Trusts, a member of the Institute for Fiscal Studies Board, and the Audit Committee of Historic England.
