Philippa Hardwick

Biography

Philippa is a barrister and economist and holds a portfolio of appointments (legal and non-legal) focusing on regulation, standards, professional discipline, public health, governance and risk. She currently serves in a senior role on a Cabinet Office sponsored adjudication panel.

Philippa practiced as a Commercial Barrister (as Philippa Hamilton) from Fountain Court Chambers. Before her legal career she worked as an economics analyst for Unilever plc.

Philippa also currently sits on the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Fitness to Practise Committee (since 2023). Since 2021 she has served as a Director and Trustee of the London Clinic, where she chairs its Financial Audit Committee.

From May 2021 until July 2024 Philippa served as a Non-Executive Director to the VMD.  She also served in a regulatory capacity on the Financial Reporting Council’s Conduct Committee from 2018-2021 and from 2011 until 2024 as a Trustee and Vice Chair of the Trusthouse Charitable Foundation, a grant-giver supporting projects addressing issues facing the vulnerable and isolated.

Philippa has recent experience of regulatory processes, main boards, audit committees, investment committees, adjudication panels, and case management processes. As a barrister, she handled a broad range of advisory and representative work, litigation, arbitration and mediation.
