Professor Richard Disney
Biography
Richard Disney is a Visiting Professor of Economics at University College, London and a Research Fellow at the Institute for Fiscal Studies. He was previously a member of the NHS Pay Review Body (2003-09). His fields of interest and published research encompass public economics and the economics of labour markets, including the issues of pensions and retirement. He has been on secondment at the International Monetary Fund and has worked as a consultant for the World Bank, ILO, OECD, DWP and (the then) DES on a variety of labour market issues. He has served on steering groups of teams in the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury concerned with evidence-based policy. He was a member of the Council of the Royal Economic Society from 2001 to 2006 and RES Conference Chair 2005. From 2010 until early 2012 he was a member of the Independent Review team (led by Tom Winsor) into police officers’ and staff remuneration and conditions.
