Biography
A successful deliverer of high-profile, large-scale projects, Richard has 45 years of experience operating at the most senior level in the UK transport industry.
Currently, an independent advisor, Richard’s previous roles have included being Managing Director for Global Rail and Transit Engineering at SNC-Lavalin, the Director of Transport for the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2012, HS1 Project Director for Eurostar, Rail Board member for First Group plc, MD of Great Western Trains and MEBO leadership of the original Great Western franchise award at privatisation. In addition to being Chair at DOHL, Richard has advised the DfT and Transport for the North on matters relating to rail performance and investment in the north of England.
Prior to privatisation, Richard had 20 years railway management experience with British Rail, including Director of Strategy for InterCity and Franchise Development Director.
