Richard Swede
Biography
Richard Swede is the Director of Legal at the Planning Inspectorate.
Richard joined the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Legal in 1993. He worked on coal and gas legislation before being seconded to the Cabinet Office Legal Advisers in 1999 as a desk officer.
He was promoted to the senior Civil Service in 2001 and returned to DTI to head up a team working on equality issues. Since 2003 Richard has worked on a large variety of energy matters at DTI and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), most recently energy efficiency and development consents.
