Ross Matthews

Biography

Ross Matthews became His Majesty’s Ambassador to Chad in June 2024. Previously he was Deputy Ambassador at the British Embassy in Lisbon and, before that, Head of the NATO Section at the Foreign Office. 

Other previous postings overseas include as First Secretary at the British Embassy in Argentina and as Second Secretary at the British High Commission in Cameroon (covering Chad and Central African Republic).

Ross Matthews has a degree in French and Economics (BA Honours) from the University of Lancaster. He is married with two daughters.

British Ambassador to Chad

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations and consular services.
