Dr Rowena Hansen
Biography
Rowena became the Interim Director of Science Operations and Research in April 2024.
Rowena was previously Head of Animal Health and Welfare Advice at APHA.
Rowena has a PhD in veterinary parasitology, having studied the host immunological mechanisms surrounding the life and death of Onchocerca ochengi in cattle in sub-Saharan Africa.
Interim Director of Science Operations and Research
The Director of Science Operations and Research is responsible for:
- the operational delivery of science related matters in the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA)
- the quality and integrity of APHA’s science services and scientific colleagues
- making sure that the scientific perspective is part of decision making in APHA
