Ruth Elliot
Biography
After completing a Geography degree at Durham University, Ruth qualified as an accountant with Deloitte. Since then, Ruth has held a number of roles across the public sector including policy and finance roles at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
Ruth began working at UKRI when it was formed on 1 April 2018, initially as Finance Director and then Deputy CFO, with responsibility for procurement, legal, health and safety, security, counter-fraud, information governance, risk and assurance in addition to finance. In these roles, Ruth has led work to integrate corporate functions from UKRI’s predecessor bodies as well as working on the launch of new programmes such as a new loans product for innovative companies.

Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the highest standards of financial management and corporate services within the UK Atomic Energy Authority
- Growing and developing UKAEA’s national innovation campuses (Culham, Harwell and Rotherham)
- Authority Secretary
- Senior Information Risk Officer
