Sally Randall

Biography

Sally Randall was appointed Director General for Environment at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on 14 October 2024.

Before this, Sally was Director General of Food, Biosecurity and Trade from August 2023 to October 2024.

She joined Defra in 2019 as Director for Floods and Water and became the Director of Environmental Quality in 2021. She previously spent most of her career in what is now the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. She was Housing Director from 2015 to 2018 and Director for Land and Development from 2014 to 2015.

Earlier in her career she had a range of roles spanning housing, communities and the built environment including homelessness, the private rented sector, housing growth, housing infrastructure and community-based regeneration projects.
