Samantha Smith
Biography
Samantha Smith was Chargé d’Affaire’s to Eswatini from December 2020 until July 2021. Before this she was the Deputy Ambassador in Mali, providing in country resilience as part of the UK response to COVID-19.
Samantha joined the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in 2007, following roles in another government department. She has previously served as: Head of the Global Britain Uplift; Deputy Head of the Africa Roamer Team; Head of Corporate Services, South Sudan; HM Consul, Sana’a, Yemen; the Governor’s Representative on Pitcairn Island; and as a Policy Officer and Private Secretary.

Deputy Head of Mission, Moldova
The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
