Sarah Hulton OBE

Biography

Sarah Hulton OBE was British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka from August 2019 to June 2023.

Sarah has served in London in several different roles; as Head of Pacific Department, Head of DPRK Department and Head of Diversity and Inclusion Department. She has previously been posted to Zimbabwe and the Philippines working in political roles. Over the course of her career in the FCO she has worked on counter terrorism, counter proliferation, conflict prevention and consular human rights portfolios. She worked in the private sector before joining the FCO and holds a degree in Politics from the University of Bristol, part of which focused on South Asian politics.

Sarah received on OBE for services to British foreign policy in the Queen’s New Year Honours List 2019.

Sarah is married to Tony and they have three children. She enjoys reading biographies, and running.
