Sarah Pilbeam
Biography
Sarah became Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy Podgorica in October 2022. She has previously done postings in New Zealand, Uganda and New York and most recently in Moscow (2019 to 2022) where she was the Acting Consul General and the Consular Regional Operations Manager, covering 10 countries. In London, Sarah has worked in various departments across her career, most recently in Crisis Management Department (2010 to 2019) where she did a number of roles including Sports and Major Events officer, Rapid Deployment team manager and Deputy Head of Training Team.
Deputy Head of Mission, Montenegro
The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
